Sheesh Mahal, Jas Mandir, and Jai Mandir

View of the Hall of Victory, Housing the Jai and Jas Mandir Exterior of Jai Mandir/Jas Mandir Complex

On the opposite side of the Aram Bagh or Pleasure Gardens stands the complex that houses the other two palaces, The Jai Mandir (on the lower level) and the Jas Mandir (the upper level). Jai Mandir was used as a hall of private audiences. Its floral ceiling is inlaid with intricate mirror work. The Sheesh Mahal (just visible in the two photos above, behind the pillars) has walls and ceilings entirely covered with inlay work of mirrors and colored glass; the flame of a single candle reflected in the tiny mirrors embedded in the Sheesh Mahal's ceilings transforms it into a starlit sky! Above the Jai Mandir is the Jas Mandir. The hall of private audiences has latticed windows, a floral ceiling of alabaster relief work, and glass inlay. A marble screen overlooks the Maota Lake and brings in the cool breeze. The pictures below show the rooms described here.
