As the animation above loads, let's take a moment to explain how Virtual Baalbeck works. The animation will identify the major sections of the ruins as they appear in the architect's rendering. Next, the animation will display a map of the existing ruins. As it unfolds, you will see how each of the main areas of the temple complex is captured by a panorama which, in turn, links to the panorama of the next set of ruins. Within each panorama are "hotspots," (clickable links); these show larger images of crucial aspects of the temple complex and provide additional explanation. Once the panorama process has been explained, the animation will conclude with an image of the entrance to Baalbeck--click to enter.
